Plant Based Diet

You should eat more of a plant based diet.

You should eat more of a plant based diet.

So, what does this mean exactly?

You’ve probably heard this before, that a plant based diet is the best for our health. We believe it’s true, which is why it’s common to hear that someone you know or know of with some kind of disease, may have been told by their doctor to change what they eat to a mostly, if not completely, plant based diet. Why is this?

To quote Dr. Michael Gregor from his book, “How Not To Die”, “That one unifying diet found to prevent and treat many of these chronic diseases is a whole-food, plant-based diet, defined as an eating pattern that encourages the consumption of unrefined plant foods and discourages meats, dairy products, eggs and processed foods.”

Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion out there when it comes to which diet is absolutely the best. There are doctors who believe in diets from low-fat, high carbohydrate to high-fat, low carbohydrate or from mostly meat to completely vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and so on. If that isn’t confusing enough, the FDA is now recommending a food “plate” instead of the food “pyramid” in their ever changing advice about what to eat in order to be healthy. We hope to help.

Why so much confusion? It is a complicated story, and it’s evolving rapidly due to increased research and knowledge. But there is good news! Even though there isn’t complete agreement on what to eat, there is more agreement on what NOT to eat. Learn more.
